Honors

National History Day received an award of merit from the American Association for State and Local History. Dr. David Van Tassel received the 1990 Charles Frankel Prize for public programming in the humanities from the National Endowment of the Humanities. NHD was highlighted as an "exemplary program" in the 1997 President's Committee on Arts and Humanities report, "Creative America" and in 2002 was selected by President George W. Bush to be a key partner in the “Our Documents” initiative on history and civics.
